Natchez Celebrates The Blooms–And You’re Invited!

July is peak bloom for Natchez Crepe Myrtles. And no other city in the country can boast the extraordinary display of crepe myrtles blooming like Natchez, Mississippi. This summer, you’re invited to enjoy the scenery and venture out on our FREE self-guided tours for your Natchez Experience during the 2022 Crepe Myrtle Blooming Season.

Special Festival Events and Month-long Walking Tours

 Celebrate the Blooms Bash with Downtown Natchez
July 8, 2022 • 5:00pm to 7:00pm

A moveable feast of sights, sounds, and sips through our tree-lined streets! Enjoy sipping and strolling in Natchez, starting with a kick off at Locust Alley at 511 Main Street.

This downtown traveling feast for the mouth and eyes features the largest, most magical concentration of crepe myrtles in the city, our Downtown Shops, Restaurants, and Bars, including a go-cup district.

 

Celebrate the Blooms on Broadway
July 9, 2022 • 8:30am to Noon

Visit the Natchez Farmers Market in Downtown to peruse the blooms plants for sale and take in demonstrations about proper crepe myrtle pruning and care.

10:00am to Noon

Then come down to Smoot’s Grocery Blues Lounge on Broadway for program and reception.

 

Follow the reception with Guided and Self-Guided tours:

• Monmouth Historic Inn & Gardens:

Head up the hill to luscious gardens at Monmouth Historic Inn, which are even more resplendent this time of year with bursting blooms on over one hundred crepe myrtle trees.

• Bloom Drive:

This tour takes in the magnificent blooms at top gardens and sites beyond the downtown area.

• Historic Natchez City Cemetery:

Established in 1822, this historical cemetery is simply beautiful. Drive or walk the Natchez City Cemetery and see more than 490 crepe myrtles amidst the mature landscape with an overlook of the city. The Friends of the Natchez City Cemetery also offer a CD of an audio tour, for those interested.
